Nationality & Academic Qualifications Requirements
  • A person of foreign nationality who has never held the Republic of China (“R.O.C.”) nationality and who does not have overseas Chinese student status at the time of their application is permitted to apply for admission to an educational institution, in accordance with these Regulations. Applicants who wish to apply for NTUE should do so in accordance with the MOE regulations, can refer to “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan” of Ministry of Education & “Nationality Act” of Ministry of the Interior.
  • Applicants must have never studied in Taiwan before as an Overseas Chinese Student at the point of application nor have accepted the assignation of the University Entrance Committee for Overseas Chinese Students in the year of application. Applicants must apply in accordance with the Ministry of Education (MOE) "Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan."
  • Applicants hold both foreign nationality and dual R.O.C. nationality must apply in accordance with the Ministry of Education (MOE)"Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan".
  • Applicants with a high school diploma are eligible to apply for undergraduate programs; applicants with a Bachelor's degree are eligible to apply for Master’s Degree programs; applicants with a Master's degree are eligible to apply for Ph.D. programs. Applicants hold equivalent educational levels should meet the requirements of “Standards for Recognition of Equivalent Educational Levels for University Admission” of      Ministry of Education. Degree Verification must be verified by the Taiwan Embassy/Mission in your country.
  • Applicants with a previous degree from Mainland China are subjected to the following regulations:
  1. The university where the previous degree was obtained must be listed under MOE’s “List of Recognized Higher Education Institutions in Mainland China” (Chinese version only).
  2. The period of study must fulfill the minimum requirements of Article 7 of MOE’s “Regulations on Academic Qualifications from Mainland China” (Chinese version only).
  3. One must not meet any circumstances listed under Article 8 of MOE’s “Regulations on Academic Qualifications from Mainland China” (Chinese version only).
  • An international student applying to study at an educational institution in Taiwan in accordance with the articles 2 & 3 is limited to only applying once [English note: a person may apply to more than one educational institution, but if one of these applications is successful and they then study in Taiwan, they cannot subsequently apply to study at another educational institution for a course at that level]. After completing the course of study at the educational institution to which they applied, unless the student is applying for admission to a program for a master’s degree or a higher degree, which may be handled by each university in accordance with its regulations, if the students want to continue studying in Taiwan, their application shall be handled in the same manner as the admission procedures for domestic students.

The documents by each department is different, please refer to the following links:
  • Undergraduate Program (College of Education has 4 departments; College of Humanities and Art has 6 departments; College of Science has 5 departments). 1st intake ; 2nd intake 
  • Master's Program (College of Education has 9 programs; College of Humanities and Art has 6 programs; College of Science has 4 programs). 1st intake ; 2nd intake
  • International Master's Programs - (MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies of Contemporary Art, International Master's Program of Learning and Instruction, Master's Program of Business Administration in South East Asia).
  • Doctoral Program (College of Education has 1 program; College of Humanities and Art has 2 programs; College of Science has 1 program). 1st intake; 2nd intake


Online application system
Please visit the website and registration first International Students Admission Apply 2020
  1. Fill in the Application Form for Admission online, and upload a recent 2-inch passport size color photo.
  2. Receipt of payment: If payment is made via wire transfer, please upload your receipt from the financial institution; if payment is made in person, either by the applicant or by proxy, at the payment counter of our Office of General Services on the 2nd floor of the Administration building, a receipt issued by the University should be uploaded.      * No receipt will be required for online credit card payments.
  3. Affidavit of NTUE International Student Admission
  4. Passport or nationality document.
  5. Documentary evidence of educational background and transcript over the year.
  6. A financial statement or a document certifying full scholarship or stipend granted by the government, a college or a private organization.
  7. Proof of Language Ability (Please refer to stipulations of various programs).
  8. All assigned documents from departments (please refer to stipulations of various programs).
  9. Please scan the original documents in color and upload to the Online application system.

Application Fees
$1,200 NTD or $40 USD per department per application 
 (Received in full. All international banking charges will be borne by the payer). No refunds will be issued in any case. 


Methods of payment
  1. Online Credit Card Payment: complete credit card payment in the online application system.
  2. Upload the receipt of your wire-transfer to the NTUE account to the online application system (The name of the payee needs to be the same as the applicant’s).
