Professor Ping-Lin Fan from the Office of Research and Development went to the welcome party of The Public Affairs Chief and Cultural Affairs Officer of AIT with our fellow scholar Powell Robert Ashley

Professor Ping-Lin Fan, AIT fellow scholar Powell Robert Ashley (currently teach at NTUE) went to the welcome party on Friday, September 11th for the welcoming of Ms. Diane Sovereign (The Public Affairs Chief) and Mr. Luke Martin (Cultural Affairs Officer) in Public Diplomacy Section at AIT.

Diana Sovereign is currently head of Public Affairs at the America Institute in Taiwan (AIT). She joined the United States Department of State in 2002 and has served as a diplomat in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Prior positions include UNNATO in Brussels as a Political Officer; In Mosul, Iraq as the Public Affairs Officer; at the “old” Embassy in Beijing, China as a Consular and Political Officer; at the “new” Embassy in Beijing as the Deputy Spokesperson; at the U.S. Consulate in Wuhan, China as the Consul General; at Embassy Ottawa as the Cultural Affairs Officer, and at Embassy Buenos Aires as the Press Attaché. Prior to government service, she spent 7 years as a corporate lawyer in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices of a national law firm.

Luke Martin joined the Foreign Service in 2012 and has served as a Vice-Consul in Manila and Brussels before he assumed duty as the Cultural Affairs Officer at the AIT. At the U.S. Mission to the European Union, as Assistant Information Officer; in Kabul, as an Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer. He’s focused on educational exchange programs, including Fulbright.
