For foreigners who have legally stayed over 180 days in Taiwan, MOI will provide automatic 30-day visa extensions

一、內政部移民署宣布,針對2020年3月21日(含)前入境,在臺停留超過180日,且於7月17日尚合法在臺停留之外國人,其在臺停留期間,全面自動延長30日,不需親自前往移民署服務站申請延期。
二、移民署表示,因目前全球疫情仍屬嚴峻,為避免國際人流移動所造成之防疫破口及降低社區防疫負荷,針對在臺停留超過180日之外國人,全面自動延長停留期間。
三、移民署強調,本項措施仍配合中央流行疫情指揮中心對疫情發展狀況之評估,適時檢討調整。

1. NIA announces that, foreigners who entered Taiwan on or before March 21,2020, have stayed over 180 days in Taiwan, and are still legally staying as of July 17, will be granted an automatic 30-days extension, thus no longer required to apply at NIA service stations in person.
2. NIA explains, considering the CECC evaluation which suggests that the global pandemic is still ongoing, in order to prevent massive movement of population leading serious outbreak and increase of burden on health authorities, foreigners who have stayed over 180 days in Taiwan will be granted the automatic extension.
3. This policy shall be subject to change depending on the development of the COVID-19 outbreak.
